Unfortunately, I heard a rumour that some drain plugs are "tapered" and that they tighten in to an "interference fit" so the torque spec has to be observed and not just tightened 'til it stops. I have not experienced this, but if you have a drain plug with no shoulder stop...eh...STOP! Also, if you use any thread sealer consider the torque spec "wet" and take it easy...
