I did not have to get a special tool for the Nut on top, although I did cover the nut with a soft cloth before putting it to the wrench. What you do need to watch out for is the thin steel spacer that comes out with great force when you completely remove the top nut. If you are not careful, you will leave your skin and blood on the spacer.
