Raising the gears on a 1200 Sporty

i never let mine run below 2000 even traffic, and the Buell is even more highly strung anything below 2000 and it cough and shudders along its happy at 2500-3000.
yours being a 4spd you may get away with 1500 burbling in traffic as long as its not surging

Yes, it pulls along quite evenly at 1500, smooth, no shuddering, jerking etc.

Might be even better when I get home and prise out the lead plug on the idle mixture screw I have read about so many times :33:

Though I'm always using my ears and the seat of my pants to monitor my Rpm I'm still considering getting a tacho in the near future;
in fact I'd rather use the tacho than the spedo.
I'd rather scream a little than lug, it feels healthier for the engine.
This being said, and maths not being my forte, can one of you guys tell me what the speed is at 1000rpm in each respective gear
on a 2007 XL1200C. and where's the red line?
