road trips this summer

Hubby and I are going from Shickshinny,Pa. to Carlsbad California next Summer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Riding from here to SD the first weekend in Aug. Then the plan is to be in Houston on the 8th. Other than that wiiiiiide open!
