Thanks for everyone's reply. I am currently still in the break-in period, and am taking it easy. The numbers given are pretty much what I thought, but this clears it up. Will check the owners manual again.

I try to keep my rpm's around 2500 when cruising along in any particular gear and usually up-shift around 3000 to 3500 rpm's. But I'm the kind of guy who read the entire manual before firing up the engine the first time, who always changes the oil within 100 miles of its recommended interval, who constantly checks the oil temperature gauge, etc. I guess time will tell whether my "old lady" style of riding makes any difference on engine longevity.
