On the evo engines well the ones i have been in the compensator is held in place by a nut which screws on to the shaft if it has broken of at the threads then the shaft may need to be replaced
I had the same thing happen to me. I bought a high speed die grinder with a 1/2" semi oval cutting tool. It took 2 hrs to cut the compensator nut in 2 pieces.
