I own a 77 and have run Amsoil since 1989. Before that 60wt Valvoline. The deal is I never put that many miles on in a season so I just did an oil change every spring.

Are you sure about that? From '57 to '71 they were 883 cc. (commonly referred to as 900 cc. '72 to 1985 they were 1000 cc. With the introduction of the "Evo" XL,in '86, they had 883 and 1100cc for '86 & '87. In '88 to current, they had 883 and 1200 cc

Exactly. I had an '82 Sporty and it was a 1000 Ironhead. Don't think they had an 883 in '83, unless the motor has been changed out.
