Yes, definately let the warranty take care of it. It is definately a short and may even have to replace the wiring harness which can be very costly!

unplug the small wire that goes to starter and se if the noise goes away. If it goes away then you have a shot to power or the relay or switch is stuck. Once you unplug it and starter dissengages you can ride safely without burnning up the starter. The starter only has 2 wires on it a big Batt cable and a small one (should br green) it controlls the solenoid.
