Concerning your mixture screw.When you you replaced/took it out did you check the very small washer and O-ring below the spring.Maybe the O-ring is damaged or missing.

Any more than 2 turns out should indicate the need for re jetting, if the bike is hiccuping it is still TOOOO lean, watch out the idle mixture screw does not fall out
