I don't see a down side here at all. You actually made your wife happy and it didn't cost you anything out of pocket. That is something I don't think I've ever heard of or witnessed myself. Just kidding but, it is rare!!!
I know, I know, you don't have the RK but, as you said, you can plan on getting another one sometime down the road. That will be something else to look forward to.
