I think i have to go 55 miles to get to the nearest traffic light i try not to go that way

Well then sounds like you are far enough out to miss the lites and the riots. Kinda good place to be bout now, unless you are wanting to sign up for some of the vigilanty groups been seeing on the news.

I think they ought to issue AK-47s to each Vigilanty and call them garbage clean up squads, but then my wife (and others) say I'm a bit too much.

Here's to traffic lights working or country road ridun. Still lookin for my first 'proceedure' junkie I see at the light.

I can see it now, some member is gonna read this thread, make sure he pulls into the wire box at the upper most left corner, shut down the engine and re-start it, put the kickstand down and back up, toss a few magnets under his scoot, get tired of the weird looks form the soccer mom driving the mini van full of kids, and finally..... you guessed it, run the red light

There has not been any trouble in Scotland the nearest bit of trouble to me was in Manchester about 450 miles south of here
I dont think i would want an AK-47 perhaps an L42 with a good night sight may be better

Glad to hear the Scots have been spared such low life activity. The news where I live just says over in Britian so I guess that exludes Scotland.

The AK would work better than what I see on the news where several of them are just tackling the the thugs, that could get nasty if the low lifes start carrying knifes. But yes I see you are a sophisticated garbage cleaner uper with the L42 being choice.

Me I'm just an old Viet Nam Redneck that's old and nothing to loose so I'd enjoy just a the old M-16 version that would jam every so often if you didn't clean the gunpowder residue out and oil it. Would not have to use it much, couple of swipes on autogetit setting and the thieves would be cutting a trail. Course now for extra fun my choice would be the M-79 grenade launcher. Both of the weapons are ancient and have been upgraded with newer versions. In fact the M-16 evolved version now has an optional grenade launcher mounted on it.

In any case it's not hard to deal with such garbage, just the world likes to complicate things. Most of those characters looting are on government assistance programs (welfare) etc and they have such little gratitude that they go out and trash working folks businesses. Life on planet earth, does stretch the imagination some times. We've had the same thing here in America from time to time. Whenever pressure gets too much for criminals they start taking it to the streets. I surmise a future time could be coming where they will be armed also and it will be all out war. Evil is always looking to stretch it's boundaries.

We've got traffic light cameras on quite a few lights down here so I always would look for the camera before I would run one, but fortunately I've never had a problem with this. Quite a few less traffic light runners since they put the cameras in, no telling how many lives they have saved. Folks complained about the cameras every excuse know to the imagination. But bottom line if you don't like the fines, don't do the crime.

All the troubles and riots were confined to England there has been no trouble in the other countries that make up UK or Great Britain
I did carry an AR 15 for a wee while which i believe is the same as the M16 and an M79 both useful weapons in the jungle but i still prefer the L42 as it was my personal weapon for many years
However a 6 round burst of HE from a 30mm rarden cannon whether from a scimitar or warrior with a wee bit of coax would have stopped any riot dead

1 box of 200 out of the coax whether it was L37 (gpmg) or chain gun with a 1in 1 mix of tracer sure looks good when it is done right

Well this is my thread so I guess I can hijack it if I want. A 1 in 1 tracer would most definitely put on a show. I used to know what number round had the tracers when I was active duty (during the former ice age) but it was definitely not 1 in 1. I wished to God in Heaven I still had my 3 albums of photos I collected in Viet Nam. Pics of all my buddies and mountains of the highlands and a couple of night fires of electronically fired quad 50's mounted on a duece-n-halfs that would lite up the dark with fear for anyone coming against it.

I came home from work one day in 1973 and picked up all three albums and threw them in the trash because (just plain stupid) I was feeling depressed and I felt it was sick to keep such pics. All because I had a few pages of pics of dead VC and NVA that were killed in electronic mind traps that we set out at various locations in our area. It was kinda like trapping, you set um and then go back and check um. But command wanted it done to help monitor activity in the area. It didn't bother me at the time I took the pics, but then one day I wanted to readjust myself to normal again and I just threw the albums away. I deserve to not have them anymore, if I had not been such a stupid I would have just taken out the dead folks and threw them (only) away.

Yep tracers, they had green, we had red. Of all the rocket attacks we had, none were really as scary as the two minor ground attacks where I saw green tracers coming. Something bout another human with a brain trying to come after you that sobers you up more than rockets flying in. But truthfully I did not see any real hard combat like the Cav and Infantry. My hats off to those guys. We were just hard working, guard pulling combat engineers.

Thanks for the posts Brian. If times ever get bad enough and civilization deteiorates too low. I would enjoy going with you and a few of those I served with to a garbage cleanup duty one time before I die.

For us tracer was 1 in 4 for light and sustained fire on the gpmg light role with the fitted bi pod and sf with a large tripod 800 meters in the light role 2400 in sf on the tripod
1 in 1 was used when in L37A1 configuration and fitted to an armoured vehicle as the coax to the main armament
as i was infantry for 25 years and at times a wee bit restless i managed to get through most of the fighting roles in our infantry and managed to get qualified to teach all weapons apart from the heavy mortar but i did manage to get in all the specialist areas and on occasions got pulled from my regiment for special assignment
I think i still have most of my albums but at times taking photos was not on the agenda
Sorting out some of the countries problems would be easy give sufficient resources and the correct manpower however would not be politically correct :s
