Interesting. so the tire pressure in the manual is the correct pressure regardless of the manufaturer? I know not to inflate to max. pressure. You learn something new everyday, especially on this forum. I stand corrected, I believe. Sorry if I posted innaccurate info. I wasn't suggesting filling to max psi.

My HD owners manual says: front tire 36psi COLD, rear tire 40psi COLD. I'm sure both exceed 40psi on a hot day while I'm burning up pavement.

Not right-- for example Metzler 880's need around 40-42 front and 42-46 (or more) rear to provide a good ride.

What Smitty said is a good example of how it works.
