vibration

the vibration is still there at 40 mph when I engage the clutch. or at 30 or 50.

=====================================================

The vibration is less at higher RPMs but still there.

Your terms for DISengage the Clutch or INgage the clutch needed clarity.......

Just For Clarity?

Are you squeezing the clutch "IN" at the different speeds and the Vibration "IS" still there when the engine IDLING ??? at the speeds mentioned ???

IF SO,,,,, It Is NOT the engine.

By taking the engine OUT of the equation, you can see it IS Not the engine if the vibration is Still There...

Out of balance tyre/tire will give you the vibration, especially the front one.

To clarify, the vibration is still there when disengaging the clutch at any speed. I know the vibration is in the front end. I have replaced front wheelbearings, all brake pads, front rotors, and put "Ride on" in the tire to balance it. I have also check the torque on the triple tree.

I have still not checked the fork oil, can someone tell me how to do that?

I am very close to giving up. Bought another bike last week to ride while working on this one. A 2005 Road King with 9300 miles on it. Sure is nice to ride with little or no vibration a highway speeds. That is the way my 04 Road King Classic used to be.

Thanks for all your help. Still searching for ideas.

Disengaging the clutch takes the motor out of the equation. Replacing just about everything in the front end helps eliminate that area. I don't think that changing the fork oil will help, but if it has not been changed in quite a while it won't hurt. I'm not familuar with what your balancing your tires with, have they been tested on a high speed balanancer? I did not go back through the thread so I will ask the age of the tires. Sorry I have not given you much to go on, but maybe refreshing this question we can get some help for your problem. Don

Because I have felt the vibration originated in the front, I have done all I could do and everything suggested by all good people here and at other sights in that area( brake pads, rotors, bearings, handlebar grommets, fork oil, tire, tire balancing, etc.). I have also changed the front motor mount 5 times with three different mounts (two OEM and a Velva ride) for comparison. None helped. Ive had the front and rear tires balance by a dealer and a Certified Harley mechanic. I Also put "Ride On" liquid balancer in the front tire. Honestly, the vibration started when I bought new tires at our local Harley dealer (they say it's a Harley, they vibrate). Trying to fix the vibration, the rear tire was replaced with only a couple hundred miles on it. I cannot believe there is anything wrong with the engine. it has lots of power and sounds great, plus I've used Amzoil synthetic 20w50 in the engine, primary and transmission with a Amzoil filter. Amzoil guarantees the engine if you use their recommended oil and filter. This bike now has 39k miles on it of which I have put 25k on it. I know this bike did not vibrate this bad for 20k of those miles! Recently we decided to sell this bike and let someone younger without Rheumatoid Arthritis ride it with the "Harley" vibration. We decided to find another bike for us. We looked at Gold Wings, Ventures, Nomads, etc. I rode many nice bikes but found nothing I thought better or even comparable to our Harley. We bought a 2005 Harley Road King with 9k miles on it. Guess what, it rides like our 04 used too! This confirms to me there is a reason for the vibration in the 04 FLHRCI. We still have the 04 and I am still trying to figure it out while it is for sale. I am still asking for suggestions. Sorry to say I've lost faith in the local Harley Dealer and Certified Harley Specialists!
Thanks for all your help. Please don't give up on this project. As long as I have this bike I will be trying to figure it out.
Sincerely,
Bob

Although I have another bike, I am still trying to figure this one out. Recently while riding about 40mph down hill, I shut off the engine. The ride was smooth as butter. Don't know why I didn't do that hundreds of dollars ago? Lesson learned!
I now know it is the engine. What now? What do I check on the engine and how?
Thanks,
Bob

I had a vibration similar to your's on my 04 FLTR. Turned out to be the compensator sprocket nut came loose on the crank shaft. Had to replace the sprocket and thank goodness the crank was not damaged. Might have your mechanic check out the compensator.Best of luck to you.

DID the tire get Spun Balanced?? IF NOT this could be the problem YET...

We KNOW it is Not the motor as when you pull IN the clutch and Idle engine at running VIBRATION speed,,,,,,, it STILL vibrates.

ONLY thought NOW with all you have done is a BENT Wheel,,, Even balanced with a new tire/tyre, can cause this vibration to happen.

That is all I have.
