What about the "no download" mode? There are no canned maps for 95", 10:1 CR, Fatcat, TW54 cams and ported heads, or any number of displacement and performance configurations. It can take several hours and 50-60 pulls to dial in a performance configuration. The tuner earns his money and has to know what he is doing.
I know this doesn't apply to a Stage I upgrade but the SERT is a very good tuning device, just not real user friendly for high performance configurations. The TTS Mastertune is as good or better and much more user friendly.
The new SEST software listed in the 2010 SE Parts catalog has a new feature called Smart Tune. Reportedly you load a canned map close to your configuration, log a data run and the software suggests alterations based on your desires for optimizing best power, economy, etc. Supposedly the MoCo's answer to the Autotune devices out there and avoiding repeated dyno pulls. S'posed to come with every canned map back to '02 as well as a variety of Lambda based maps for the 2010s.
I'll be looking at the software and instructional DVD in a few days..... no telling whether the MoCo has got it right yet but those I know family with it think it's the best thing since sliced bread. We'll see.
