Any thoughts on fuel tuners?

I'm still thinking about a TFI - all I'm running is a stage 1 and from the plugs it looks lean. I like the simplicity, and if it dumps on me, I'll remove it. Back to factory - lean but clean. I have no plans on doing more with the engine, but if I do it's only a few Benjys, and I could sell it on e-bay for a couple of bucks anyway. The question I have remains - does Dobek support their product if it's not purchased directly from them? I don't think this is a real issue - installation and tuning looks simple, but what if...?

Probably your best bet is to do more research outside of a forum setting. In many cases a forum congregation will tend to "follow the leader" and "latch" on to one specific tuner based on the preference of someone with a billion posts. The same holds true with cams, windshields, oil, etc. All I am saying is that it pays to do a lot of research and remember that everyone will tell you that the fuel manager they use is the very best.

By the way, the PCV and Auto-Tuner purchased from Fuel Moto is the very best. I found that Jamie and Kieth at Fuel Moto know more than anyone on any forum and that they are happy to answer all of your questions. Now that's just my personal opinion of course.

Gotta ? for ya - What is your knowledge / experience with other fuelers????

OK. I'll humor you for a minute. I have experience and knowledge of the SERT, SEST, Fuel-Pak and PC111. I happen to prefer the PCV and Auto Tune as extremely user freindly, fully adjustable and plug & play for the average joe. As said, that is my personal opinion. I would ask you what your knowledge / experience is with other fuelers, but I already know all I need to know. Now I would suggest that you might want to stop worrying about my personal opinion and see if you can offer anything valuable for us all to consider. I am certainly willing to listen.

You know what - didnt ask for the sarcasim or the "know it all" attitude here!! I was just asking your experience on other fuelers. Here is what I can offer you and need you to listen real good ---- a four week vacation from HDTimeline for your condescending attitude! CAN YOU HEAR ME KNOW!!!

I'd like a little imput on fuel management. I'm looking at an Arlen Ness Big Shot 2 and a Vance and Hinzes Fuel Pak. I'd like to put one or the other on my 06 Road King Police. It's stock except for Samson fishtail slipons and a Pro R Hyper charger. Any thoughts? Shovelrocker

I have done extensive research and have come to the conclusion that there are any number of good tuners out there. Some just add fuel and others are much more versatile in their functions. I have just about decided on the Thundermax with auto tune. It seems to have the flexibility to do whatever you need to. It is fully adjustable and can move from bike to bike with map changes. Just decide on what is important to you and go with what you feel is best for you. Just like anything else we purchase we can always change to another style if the product we purchase doesn't quite do what we expected. Sure it costs more money but we are all looking for the best performance. With the Thundermax I like that it replaces the factory ECM and the closed loop is still used. Without the closed loop to monitor AFR how do you know what is really going on? Go on their website and read their tuning manual.

We don't need these ridiculous exchanges between members! If we don't know how to treat one another we should stay off this site. When someone like "Shovelrocker" asks a question lets just try to help him.

Sounds like someone with an axe to grind or an agenda.

The only "fueler" I have experinece with is the TFI and I am very happy with it. One of the points that sold me was the thought that, if it were to fail, the system would be easy to revert back to the factory setup. Again, my thinking was that if the TFI failed when I was on a long road trip, what would I do? The thing (I think...) to remember is, if you have added a stage 1 air cleaner and high flow pipes, the motor will run very lean. And from what I have read on this board, dangerously so. My thought would be to put some duct tape over the air filter and cut down the area by 50% or so. Don't know if that would work to prevent the "uber lean" condition or not. Again just my thinking.

The whole idea of changing the fuel by twisting a little screwdriver just makes me feel like things are "simpler", even though they are quite complex.
Probably sounds weird, but whatever, it makes me happy....
