Im sure it is but the reman people pretty much have this tied up so we cant get the parts one way they can price fix you into buying a complete starter instead of just the parts we need, I smell a Rat:s
 
I am almost positive that pinion gear is part# 31345-06 @ $30.00 MSRP right from Harley.

These starters on 07 and newer bikes are Automotive type, they look like Densos used by Nissan, I would call it a starter drive and I dont think the after market or the MOCO has them other than a complete starter assembly, I could be wrong on this one sure would like to know for sure cause I would rather rebuild than buy new then you know what you have when you are done. about the pinion gear.. it is obsolete. they weren't (EDIT) me.. I called two other dealers.. privateers in nova scotia and dukes in ontario.. they looked up the part and said yeah its 50 odd cdn we can order it be in a couple days.. so I said try and order it.. they did, and it came back obsolete.. I looked through the dealers parts book.. it breaks down the starters..give's all the part numbers.. they can look up the price.. but as soon as they try and order they get nothing.. not even a super seeded number.. Pretty (EDIT) because it's nice to be able to rebuild a decent starter.. I'm sure if you brought it to a starter shop they could probably match up a pinion for it which i might do so i have a spear..
