cleaning plastic windshield

I use Meguiar's PlastX. It wipes on and off easily, removes bugs and will remove minor scratches. I use it about twice a week and my windshield looks new.

I use Pledge on my dirt bikes and it works great. But, I have found after using it on goggles visors and windshields that is leaves a minor residue. This can be annoying in the sun.
I started using Plexus on my optics and wow, what a difference, nice and clear. They designed Plexus to use on Lexan Race car windshields and aircraft windshields, so I now use it on all my shields and well worth the money. No residue at all and after you give it a little buff job after application, nice and clear. The bugs clean off easier too.
Pledge is ok and I used it for years, until Plexus came into my life...

I still prefer to use wax and polish on my Harley too, just like doing the work I guess.

Pledge is sure great for the dirt bike though.

I 've used just about everything trying to get the water to flow off of the wind shield during a storm and to get those little bugs off.
Pledge - works good.
Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish - does a good job & comes in a small can.
Slip Streamer Cleaner & Polish - a good job on wind shields and face shields, and comes in a small can.

Service writer dude at the stealership told me to use a new fabric softner sheet---wet it til it drips, wipe all over the windshield & bugs will come right off. Haven't tried it yet, but sounds interesting. Tracy

Works like a charm, Bounce dryer sheets are the ticket. Wet em, gentle wiping and rinse, rinse, rinse. These sheets incorporate an anion surfactant which breaks the bug guts glue (lovebugs, anyone in the south knows). I then follow with pledge.

I use liquid fabric softener. I take a rag and dip it some softer and dab it on, wait a couple of minutes and wash them away. Works great on chrome. I've been doing this for years..........:laugh:laugh

Most light plane pilots also use Pledge because it fills the microscopic scratches and the bugs clean off easier. On the very old Cessna I used to own, I would also spray Pledge polish on the leading edge of the wing. Easier to clean the smashed bugs off later.

My Heritage windshield had lots of very tiny swirl type marks on it. Really only noticeable when the sun hit them just right but annoying never the less. Pledge pretty much did away with them completely.

Mine was convered in cooked in bugs last summer when I stopped for fuel. They had hand sanitizer by the fuel pumps... rubbed a bunch on and wiped off with a clean paper towel. Worked awesome!
