I have had flats on both front and rear and used the method Pappy42 described, leave off the throttle, no brakes and let the bike slow on it's own.
Just experienced the best kind of flat, got home from Sturgis put the bike in the shed, next am found the rear flat, how is that for luck after 5600mi.
