Fuel mileage

09 FLHR Air cleaner kit, V&H Oval slip-ons and PCV. I drive about 80 miles to work traveling 80-85 MPH. I have only been able to get 35 MPG. Could it be my speed. Think if I lower the speed could it improve my MPG?

A lower speed will probably help but the new engines don't get tme MPG that the older smaller ones did.

2010 Fatboy when stock about 42......Installed vance and hines big radi ,fuel pack and air cleaner...Just checked mileage tonight geting about 30 ...Not bad ..:laugh

2011 Road Glide Ultra w/103. Completely stock it would consistently get 42mpg with mostly hiway riding. I added a Fuelmoto stainless 2-1-2 header with all else remaining stock and mileage immediately jumped to 48mpg. I then added the Fuelmoto stage1 A/C, jackpot 3.5" mufflers and the Power Vision tuner with a map from Fulemoto. My mileage increased to 52mpg but I had very light preignition under cruise and heavy detonation when accelerating hard ( WOT). I contacted Jamie at Fuelmoto and he altered my timing tables, I now get 48-50mpg with a strong running engine. This is running 92 octane. I haven't tried 89 in it yet because it runs so good I don't want to mess with it!

I guess 40-41mpg is as good as it gets, been doing the math every fill up, 41 is the best I've gotten.. thats with a heavy right wrist, I have a hard time not making the pipes sing.... have to be careful on trips longer than a 100 miles & plan my fuel stops... still fun!

Funny how the right wrist is some how connected to the part of the brain that makes one smile. The farther the wrist is cocked back, the bigger the smile. (and the less gas mileage):lolrolling
