Help! Wife's not happy...

The first thing to do is actually ask her to give a specific answer to exactly where she is not comfortable. You could save a lot of coins by only having to modify/replace minor items... Also, by making a few more frequent stops on longer rides to allow her to stretch some may do more good than changing out anything on the bike. Riders don't usually have much to do but sit... and that makes most riders (wives) get grumpy a little quicker than the front seat rider (operator). My wife's "back pain" was due to a sore butt, I know they are attached to each other but then the butt isn't really a back, now is it? Good luck, you really need to keep her happy or the smiles you have after a ride won't last long as soon as you get off the bike....
Remember, Ride Safe........

There is a lot of wisdom in what you said, yeah I do tend to run until until the tank hits E and that could be why she's griping. She even mentioned before we ride too long between stops.

What sounds good (the exhaust) from the riders seat may sound completely different from the back. I ride with a group that many of them have rather loud exhaust - from the position of riding behind them, if you pull up beside them, it is not as harsh and rather pleasant. But if you have to ride behind them for 8 hours - you will have a head ache.

My wife uses ear plugs on occasions! And I have a stock 09 Ultra exhaust.

I agree the problem is the Too long time between off and on the bike... 6 gal. tank was the first Noticed different on My new bike.. and longer time/miles to fill it was great until my bottom was in the saddle too long also.. Stopping twice to a needed fill-up worked better for Both my wife and me.

Now remembering younger days with a real peanut tank.. 70/85 miles and pray there was a gas station close.

wife happy now i put the Kuryakyn adjustable foot pegs on got a new windshield from customflhtwindshields.net they make the wider that stock less wind on the rider and passenger and they wind doesn't catch the sound from the speakers so you can hear them better then ordered a tour pak relocation kit from george anderson pussed it back 1.5"" wife does where ear plugs so the pipes are muffled anyway

When they are not happy no one is, my wife decided to quit riding for a while she knew I always wanted a Dyna soooo she gave me the nod to sell my bagger and get the Street bob, and its staying solo, if she ever decides to ride again I will give her the Dyna and buy another one:p

I went to their site. What size did you purchase? I'm looking to keep some more wind off the wife too.

I have found while owning a Low Rider and 2 Road Kings, it is better to let the wifey fly to your destination, and you ride and have a great time getting there. Pick her up at the airport, ride to wherever...have a great time, put her back on the plane, and you have a great time riding home. I've been there too many times...passengers aren't like us. Only girlfriends put up with long rides with no complaints, then they become wifey's. Save your money trying to make a long, hot, bike ride enjoyable for her ...treat her like the queen she is, and you'll both like each other for a long time.

You are one smart man, I may just have to look into doing exactly what you are suggesting .
