The Wix info is intriguing.
Could be a viable, warranty crud free, alternative.
Simply because they provide that nominal rating.
There may well be better filters out there, but with no evidence or calculation that lets me say a 20 micron Beta XX is as good as a 5 micron nominal, warranty rules.
Now, why chrome?
Black has a higher emissivity and thus helps a little better at cooling.

That is what I always thought about having a chrome voltage regulator. It traps the heat and that is something that needs to get rid of heat quickly.
