Plug Wires and The ECM

ignition on and run-stop off----security and check engine come on. security goes out after 4 seconds and check engine stays on.

ignition still on and run-stop flipped to run----check engine gets brighter and goes out and stays out after 4 seconds.

I think this is right. It does not flash the 6 pulses or anything. I became complacent after so long and just always looked to see the check engine light went out and stayed that way. Never really paid attention I guess.
 
90FXRS you stated the security & ck. engine light are both on with Ign. switch on but the Run/Kill switch off. I've had a '96.'99,'06, and now a 2012(all dressers) and the ck. engine light doesn't come on until I switch the Run/Kill to Run with the Ign. on. The security does come on with Ign. on and Run/Kill in Off, but the Ck. Eng. light is Off. You may have some sort of a short or grounding problem with the Ck. Eng. light.
