Slow forum

this happens fairly often to me,just this morning it wouldn't load to new posts. When it gets like that,I just try later.

Bernie, I do not see that it is laying blame when not everyone is experiencing the issues described. If it was an issue with the forum, I would suspect that EVERYONE would experience the same issue when trying to access the forum. Not a FEW. Therefore, it would lead me to believe that the issue may be somewhere in the route the user has when trying to access the IP address. I use multiple sources on the forum, sometimes at the office, sometimes with a wifi hotspot from Verizon & then from my home network as well. I have not had any issues on any machine at any location.

You could try a traceroute on the forum address from the command prompt and possibly see where the delay is. Just how I do my troubleshooting. But I am no expert.

The point is Joy, and the reason it is brought up is if a only a few who frequent forum that actually tries to point out the deficiencies with the system to get system to run smoother and efficiently for all involved then those who do experience issues may never return. But it seems that those on the Mod team who want to help, seem to not have the ability to be able to make corrective actions to correct ongoing issues and it is a shame for you are appointed to over see operation of forum.
As to blaming someone or something a little thin skinned are we not. I was only referencing what my cable company always tells me when there is a problem and as they say no fault found so it must be your equipment.
Here's the result of traceroute:

Bernie, you can bring it up until you are blue in the face, however, if it was a problem with the forum, every user would experience the issue. If the problem is between the user and the forum, it can be a problem on any one the sites that the request is sent through. I just ran a ping for the forum address and it was returned at 33ms. From your trace route, hops 3-6 had no response. That would cause a delay on your side.
What I am saying is that there are several places between your computer and the server for www.hdtimeline.com that are owned by different service providers that are used by ISP's (Some are leased sites by the vendor and some are out of the vendors control- depending on where the server is located. There are 22 points that your request hits to arrive at the web site. The response times from the HDTimeline site are within general standards.
Since this issue only affects a few members, and not all, I am not sure there is much that the forum in general can do to repair it. If it was an issue with the server, you are correct in that the moderating team could not fix the issue. That would have to be done by Karen's IT person.
And not thin skinned at all. Just stating the facts.

Thank you for a technical reply Joy. What you are saying makes absolute sense. So that if all the thru ways are not moving freely then lag time will happen. Which also explains why you may not have problems with other web sites. The fact that you did what you did speaks volumes. ;)
