What products Do You Use To Detail Your Bike

Well Guys, I must confess.....I took the Pledge Plunge!:D

It was a hard sell for me but after reading many imputs on here about it, I thought it was time to give it a try. Off to the store with the wife, told her I needed to get some Pledge for the bike....Got a very strange look from her:unsure but told her to chill out and you will see how well it will look.

Just for my own giggles, I went over and looked at a bottle of ICE Turttlewax...$14..00 bucks! Pledge $ 3.86..That was an easy sale to myself.
(and the wife)

I will say, easy as heck with a micro towel and with-in 10 minutes had the bike "Pledged" front to back, top to bottom along with the wind screen. This stuff is ASWOME and quick to apply. I only used about 3 or 4 shots on the micro as it seems to go a looooong way. I think I might be able to hand this can down to my son when he gets his own scoot one day! The paint and chrome looked great, better then any wax I have EVER used. The best part, no nasty white stuff left in the cracks and "tight" spots. It is very forgiving and a breeze to do.

And the greatest part of it all.....My garage smells like orages now!

Give us an idea of what you use and how it works.

Give brand names and difficulty of use too.

How often you find you need to reuse the product to keep things in top shape will help too.

I removed one of the driver floor boards when I last worked on my bike. I found rust underneath. Gasp!!

Can anyone suggest a product I can use to remove the rust. With all the angles and corners involved getting to all the rust is going to be difficult.

I did toy with the idea of masking off all but the bottom of the floor board and using some Rustoleum Rust Stripper followed with a coat of Rustoleum rust reformer flat black spray once I get it as clean as I can. Presumably the Rustoleum is supposed to neutralize the rust.

I wouldn't dream of painting over my other chrome, but I can't think of any negative reason not to paint the underside of the driver floorboards. Unlike the rear floor boards that flip up, the driver floor boards stay in the down position.

I'd appreciate the feedback. Thanks.

I have tried most all of the gimick expensive stuff. Nothing to good for my bike :).
But is side by side test most of it is no better than off self.
First I use a microfiber was rag and microfiber to dry.
Soft paint brush for rims.
Soap ,Turtle wax spot free with OUT wax And I use softwater from the house. And mix the soap no stronger than they say.
While still wet I Use turtle wax 1 step wax and dry.(Sparingly a little is all you need)
Stuff is fast and works great.
Now the 1 what I call expensive product I like some times is BAM.
I carry along some in a small spray bottle it cleans bugs ok and is good for quick touch ups. And can be used with out washing the bike.
Bam is good for almost anything easy to use but at 20 Dollars for 32oz it can add up.
Last year I did both my bikes one is black one is orange.
1/2 with turtle wax and dry and 1/2 with expensive paste wax.
No one could tell the difference.
Same on the crome used mothers and turtle wax.
oh and on the seats I use HD saddle soap about once a month. Same on the leather bags on Fatboy they are 10 years old and still look good. A little color touch up now and then with Kiwi leather die.HD saddle soaps no different than any other saddle soap I quess but if we never bought anything but their bikes the dealer might go away

I bought my 99' Road King used. The bags were a mess. In addition to the over 200 rusted and discolored button rivets, the leather was discolored. Us military guys are well versed with Kiwi dye and shoe polish, but on my bags I went a different route.

I bought the H-D Black Creme Polish. I applied it liberally to both bags and just let it sit for a few days, after which I went in with an old cotton baby diaper and started buffing. The results were awesome! I did the same thing a few more times to restore the color, and finished up with H-D Leather Dressing.

Now if my bags happen to get wet or dirty and I just want to do a quickie, I spray them with Meguiars Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner. I get mine from Auto-Zone, but I've seen it elsewhere.

I also use the H-D Black creme polish on my black leather seat, but I buff it with a low speed automotive buffer with a sheepskin pad. I finish the job with the H-D Leather Dressing.

I believe the H-D creme polish has the proper dyes and leaves the stock satin sheen. The dressing seems to act as a sealer. I spit-shine my shoes and jump boots with Kiwi, but on my HD bags and seats, it has to be the H-D stuff for me.

That's quite an inventory Hobbit:D! Do you know if we can get BOM on this side of the pond and have you ever tried it or S100?

To clean the crud off my bike I went to the garden shop and bought a canister type pump up garden sprayer. I used Simple Green and sprayed it on with the garden sprayer. I rinsed it off with a garden hose. There were a couple of oily spots underneath the bike, and some oil residue around the voltage regulator that did not come clean the first time, so I repeated the process and they came clean.

I've tried Mother's and Meguiars on the chrome, but Turtle Wax Chrome Polish seemed to work the best for me.

I use Meguiars 3 step process on the painted surfaces, and H-D Black Creme Polish on the leather.

I agree with twicecam. Meguires Quick Detail is great! Goes on easy, comes off easy, and keeps the bike looking great.

I use Armoral products, easy to use and do a great longlasting job, they have an excellent chrome cleaner/polish which is good as I have a lot of chrome on my ride.

I work for a company that used to get Armor All in five gallon buckets. Naturally all of us mechanics pilfered some for our own use. Then came the TSB from corporate and the Armor All was discontinued. It has a negative effect on vinyl and plastic parts.
