2009 Street Glide Improvements over 2008

I've been reading a lot of posts on the subject and I think its actually an issue in the front end. The best fix I saw was using a spall piece of a feeler gauge (whatever size is needed) to shim the area thats moving.

Honestly.....for 20 grand we should not be hearing this clunk, and certainly shouldnt have to be "rigging" a fix.

I installed my floorboard extension kit the other day and took er out for a spin. Tremendous improvement in leg comfort. I highly recomend them. Harley Goodies - Floorboard Footboard Extender Extension Kit - Better than BOOT DR. and HEEL GUARD. The owner, Tom, is a cool dude.

Well fellas, my "clunk" has gotten so bad that if I stand holding the bike by the grips and move it forward and grab the front brake hard, then backward and grab it hard you can hear and actually feel the clunk in the bars.

I called the dealer and he said it is the top or locknut coming loose, while HD considers this a "maintenance" issue, they will take care of it for me. Thats great of him, but a truckload of BS that the Mo Co wont fix this obvious problem, especially since there is so much info out there about the issue. I'll keep you posted.

2500 miles and lovin every mile :)

Engine mount is the exact same as the 08

Sure about that the '08 is adjustable where the '09 is not

Thaks for the update. Now I know to keep an eye on mine.

Yeah seriously, I'll have to take a look now. I have over 4k on mine and no issues yet, knock on wood i guess. I'll have to see if I have the same issue just haven't picked up on it.

Well friends, I have a good dealer! They not only fixed the clunk for free but washed & detailed the bike to boot! Gotta love that.
Here's a plug for Vreeland's HD in Bloomsburg, Pa :)

29 chilly degress here in Pa with a pretty stiff wind, but since the sun was shining I decided to don the leather and take er out for a spin. Did about 40 miles.

Honestly, the only thing really cold were my fingertips. This is where a set of heated hand grips would come in real handy. I have them on my snow blower and they actually keep your whole body warmer, but I am not in the habit of riding in below freezing temp, so it would pretty much be a waste of money.

Just couldnt stand looking at the bike sitting there for over a week! It's gonna be a looooong winter!

:)

Yo brathas.... Wasss up?
No action on dis here board for weeks.

Guess everybody's put their babies to sleep for the long winter? I was planning on doing the last HOG event here yesterday...a toy run, but it was 29 degrees and wind gusting about 35 mph with some flurries. Not my idea of a good time!

Well, till spring then....hope you all have a great Holiday season!

Been out of town for 4 days and couldn't ride. Today I'm working on a new home for my UC - i.e. cleaning out the garage, new shelving and a motorcycle work station. Tomorrow is the 21st Annual Christmas Toys in the Sun Run. They shut down I-95 for us and should be in excess of 20,000 bikers there.

Last year I found myself on my RK riding behind an ancient couple on an Ultra. He had a CD of 50's Perry Como style christmas music. He played "Jingle Bell Rock" over and over again at volume almost the whole 26 miles and since our speed varied between 60 and wobbling slowly to keep upright we heard "Jingle Bell Rock" the whole way. At first it was annoying, then I wanted to kill him, then I kind of got to like it.

Well, now I have an Ultra with speakers and my own music and tomorrow I have to find him in the crowd so I can ride next to him and get my revenge!

Hey, it's all about the children, right?
