I'm using Redline 20W 60
I know a lot of people say no need for more than 20W 50 but its hitting 115 degrees here this week and I feel better with the 20W 60.

I use bardhall oil ...
engine = sae 15 w 50 xtc 60
primary = sae 20 w 40 gear box
tranny = sae 80 w 90 t&d gear and trasmissions...
I think good choises...

interesting... may I ask where you buy it, and
why did you choose Bardhall ?

I've just always used the MOCO oil. Haven't even switched to synthetic, mostely cause my bike has almost 50K on it now.

I topped up with Shell Rotella 20/50 until my 1600km, nothing else avail here thats not syn. Will change to M1 then. Ive used close to 2 liters of oil during break in, could still add 1/2 liter, riding in the middle of dip stick. Is that normal for HD oil to burn off that much during breakin?

They usually will consume a bit over a quart on breakin. It also depends on how it was broken in too.

I switched from HD oil to M1VT at 4000 miles. Seemed to quite things down a bit - and I picked a few MPG. I didn't change anything else and went from around 38 MPG to 40 MPG. Riding habits didn't change much, if anything I push it a little harder now that I'm used to it
