Anybody else care to weigh in on the aircraft oil question? Anybody try it?
How about the KN oil filters?

K N good filters, like the nut for removal, aircraft oil? I new a guy who ran it in a Shovel head I had to rebuild it it did not have the right additives so I was told and was kind of spendy too:s

I've run a number of oils, syns and dino types.
After a number of tear downs, top end rebuilds, crank measurements, etc.
The synthetic I used was AMSoil and it worked very well.
The best oil overall I have used and will continue to use in all my HDs is..
Valvoline VR1 Racing oil in 50 weight and 20/50 weight.
By far better than any including AMSoil and thats saying alot.
At $4.99 a quart, it's a steal.
Completely eliminates top end noise, lifter issues, etc.
The stuff is so slippery you can feel the difference on your fingers.
This stuff is the defacto standard for blown AA/FD and funny cars.
It holds up under any and all conditions.

So many types and choices of engine oil, Are these engine this sensitive? I have several old bikes, a 62 panhead, a 74 glide, 85 custom and the earlier two didn't even have a filter. now I purchased a 08 EFI train and have run nothing but HD 360 and HD black filter, and change about 3,000 miles. now the bike has 9,000 mi. after reading so many horror stories about oil. I wonder about these new bikes. my 85 model had Texaco Aircraft 120. never had a problem with oil, the old 74 had Aero Shell 100. Am I truely abusing my 08 T/C with this HD oil? I'll go get me some more Texaco Aircraft aircooled oil, Check out its properties.

I wish I could delete the aircraft oil comments, after reading the tech specs, which I've never done, I see several reasons the aircraft oil is not even in the running for these bike engines, I guess back in the day, the earlier, older engine weren't as sensitive as these new ones. so strike my aircraft oil comments , I'll just use some 20-50 Pennsoil and be done with it, thats about the only oil I haven't heard of in these T/C models. I'm almost scared to crank up. and I read where I have done a wrong on this poll sight, and will try to correct that, Glider. I will keep the HD 360 I suppose or the Rotella if the need arises.

I run HD 360 with no problems , it is not the best oil out there but it aint the worst:p

M1 V Twin Is all I use in the motor. It's readily available and is widely used in hi dollar new cars too. It also says to use the M1 for oil changes in the same cars on the cap so there must be more to it than just a low supplier price IMO, plus I've never seen Amsoil touted as the factory fill in anything.

These cars all use it as a factory fill (M1)

Glider We in the Automotive Drag racing Business have discovered a new engine oil by a company named Lubeatech. This is the find of the Centrury! Over the years we have tested every type of oil you can even make up. Most all the same some make more power than others some last longer under heat load. On our 500 Cubic Inch Pro Stock Engines we have had trouble in the past of breaking Springs and gaulding Push Rods. This Kid comes to the shop one day and says I have a oil that will make more Power and will not break any parts "Yea Right Einstien" So we tried the oil and OK I Had to Buy Lunch .This Oil is Amazing He also sells oil for V-Twin I have had it in both of my Harleys For over 2 Years . I just dont know what to say accept that I am very skeptical about anything ! I even have this oil in my home generac home generator system. Well Ithought somebody might like the info

All should read Donnie Petersons take on oil in the Oct. issue of American Iron very good read, even info on airplane oil and why not to use it:s

+1 Jack. Great read. Gave me a better perspective on synthetics and the benefits and some of the myths, where they start and the reality etc.

I believe Jack is referring to Donny Petersen's recent artical in AIM's October 2010 issue. Twin Cam Lubrication Part II: Oil consumption rates, additives and labeling.

The PDFs are from 2000.

I'm sure both are helpful but, the artical from 2010 might be a little more up to date.

Sorry, can't find any links. I guess they want you to buy their mag to receive the benefit of the information.......:D
