I believe Jack is referring to Donny Petersen's recent artical in AIM's October 2010 issue. Twin Cam Lubrication Part II: Oil consumption rates, additives and labeling.

The PDFs are from 2000.

I'm sure both are helpful but, the artical from 2010 might be a little more up to date.

Sorry, can't find any links. I guess they want you to buy their mag to receive the benefit of the information.......:D

You are right it is a very good read, I would suggest buying the Magazine JMO:s

I wanted to post a poll to find out what kind of engine oil you use to get an idea of what's being used.

Please keep all conversations and questions on oils to the oil forum instead of posting them in the POLL threads.

The POLL threads are for gathering information on the products and not for discussions about the products themselves .

The OIL forum is for the questions and answers.

hi all,

some people say not to use full synthetic if still under 3000miles on the clock. can anyone explain that? as far as i know, most new engines are okay to use full synthetic oils as they flow easier through those little gaps in engines.

has any one used redline 20w-60 in modern v twins? on the bottle says for v twins running in hot climates and knuckle/pan/shovel heads. but there's a guy contacted the redline asking if which to use, and the company said the 20w-50 was good enough. just wanna know what you guys' opinions...
