Group Rides or Solo?

its been talked about before depends who you ride with the hog group i ride with is great.. the other group i sometimes ride with not so great depending who shows up
But i like to ride with myself or just one or 2 other people the best .. cause im suually in front

Solo or with 1 or 2 other bikes. In Florida I used to like to go on poker runs. They gave you a map of stops and bikes had 2-3 hours to depart and arrive on their own schedule. Since I moved to Georgia, all the poker runs I have been to are parade runs. Sometimes police escort, some not, but ALL the bikes think they have the RIGHT to go thru intersections or left turns as a group weather or not there is a road guard at the intersection. Not all cagers think that way. No more poker runs for me.
I ride alone, My wife doesn't even ride she is scared to ride, maybe one or two buddies that I know how they drive so the ride will be save. I will not ride with a large group. and do not like to go to large gatherings. Thats why me and my buddy decieded to go to Glacier national park instead of Stugis. riding is Freedom:s

I find it interesting that so many choose to ride alone. I didn't know the ratio was so high. I rode in a large group once. Once was enough. The leader seemed to think that the object of the ride was to get to the destination ASAP. Between the speed and the showing off, I left the group and made my way alone. Other than that, I had one friend I sometimes rode with. We were of the same mindset...enjoy the ride and get home alive.

First, you sound like I ride just like you do. I am not in a hurry to get anywhere. All I am doing is relaxing and enjoying the fresh air.
I do not like riding in groups. Too many twitchy throttle hands and lane changers for me. Now that my son has a bike we ride together a lot, but we know how each other rides and are comfortable together. We have a great time.

I agree with Elmosac. I like riding with the local HOG Chapter. A great bunch of safe men and women.We meet at the local HD store, discuss the route, safety concerns, then we take off for the food place of the ride. Once we get there, we're on our own but most of us ride home together.

I just got home from a trip today, I rode 800 miles today solo and surely would have enjoyed it a lot more if I had a couple more bikes with me.

I ride either way, With a group or solo. Don't give up on group riding however. If you find a great bunch of like minded riders you can be in for a very enjoyable ride. Solo is to me, a more meandering get lost kind of ride where I tend to seek out towns or back roads that I never would ordinarily go on.
One time I had read in Backpacker magazine the advice for people to "Hike their own hike". I find that advice applicable to riding my bike. Go at your own comfortable pace, stop for a coffee or pastry when YOU want to stop, hang out by some scenic, peaceful place on a whim for a drink from your thermos.
Don't let that kind of crowd make you have regrets afterwards. It about freedom & enjoyment! You sound like the way I prefer to ride.

Years ago I rode with a club pretty much all the time. Now it's mostly me and 3 buddies. We've ridden a good part of the east coast together. Toured Nova Scotia last year, Montreal the year before, Myrtle Beach and Mt Washington New Hampshire this year. I just got tired of all the meat head riders in most poker runs, Rolling thunder style runs. I'd say that most large runs, I've seen some type of bike-bike accident or incident. I can't tell you how many times that I've almost been run into by another biker. I don't really enjoy meeting in the morning, riding an hour to a bar for lunch, and then riding home.
The four of us all have the same riding style and makes for a nice ride.
