Here's my Trike build

Thank you all. Ok now I'm back from doing a cager ride to KCK and back. Now it's time to buckle-down and get to building my trike some more.

This thread reads like a great novel. With the very detailed descriptions and accompanying pics, the moderators could almost archive (or save to the "Help" area, this thread for instructions on how to build your own trike. While I'm not a trike fan (not yet anyway), I enjoyed reading this detailed thread.

Cyclops, thank you for commenting. I agree with you on adding parts and it's entirety to the "How too's" Back in my day of living from pay check to pay check. I had to learn to modify or make my own parts instead of purchasing ready made parts. But this is also how ready made ( aftermarket )parts originated. Also I found that when I enter my builds in a bike show. 1st off I make sure that the show is judged. People's choice judged shows are a joke to me. But real judged shows are different. Judges look for that original touch or cleverness that an individual came up with to be different. I know I would if I was ever a judge.

Again, thank you for your comment, RJ

In the evenings as usual.
The reason I have time to do this is I own my own business. That entails building or thinking up and building after-market MC products. My place of business is at my home. The internet and my web site are my store front. So there is no need to travel to and from work. The trike build is in part the research and development of my designs of after-market products I try to perfect and market for two and three wheelers.

My build continues,...

I find when I compare my build to other builds out there. Especially complete trike builds. Like the Tri-Glide for instance. I find things along the way on my build that other builders didn't address or bother to correct. To shed some light on what I'm referring too. When the front end is raked. The bottom leading edge of the front fender, that should be parallel to the ground. Is usually tilted up.

I have corrected this on my build.
I also noticed that I have to adjust my head light downwards more when setting it's aim.

The rake has made the bat wing fairing tilt back more than its original intended design. This tilting back has improved the direction of the fairing's speakers and the read-out of the gauges when I'm sitting back in my trike. But when I adjust the head lite downwards to light up my path. It just doesn't look correct, the way the bulb tilts out of the head lite trim ring. This may not be as noticeable on other builds as much as it is or was on mine. I've a 5 and a 1/2 degree over stock rake. I also have a 21" wheel and my front end tubes are 2 inches over stock as well. Anyways,... I had to address this needed correction.

In this picture below you can see how much I had to pull the headlite and its bucket out at the top to allow for my modification.

I used some 10/32 metal stand-offs. 2 added together for a doubled length.

With the stand-offs doubled. I mounted them in some existing holes towards the top of the head lite fairing opening.

I cut some .040 aluminum to size and rolled it into shape.

The white on the metal is just a vinyl protective covering and is removed in the next picture.
