Guess who stop off for a visit?

Just wish we could have had more time to visit,
Thanks for stopping by Mike, it was great to meet you in person, next time I promise I'll shut down the shop and we'll go out to eat someplace away from all phones.

This sure didn't look like a good way to start the day so I broke out the rainsuit. Fortunately I didn't have to put it on.

This looked impressive as I was going down Hwy 75 so I made a U-turn and went into the campground to take the shot. I think they were still asleep.

While Dave was doing his computer wizardry this morning to get yesterdays pictures uploaded I was yapping with my sister on facebook. She asked me where the commentary was. I knew I wrote one. Guess what? I didn't insert it! See what happens to an idle mind! Ok here it is!

Motorcycle Adventure, Day 22

Reveille was at 0500 according my watch, but I may have crossed a time zone and not paid attention. The mission for today was to head toward Pocatello and say howdy to “Chopper”. I topped off with fuel in Challis, ID and hooked a right on Hwy 75 in order to go through the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. I couldn’t pass it up as I was this close. I stopped in Stanley, ID and had breakfast with a fellow rider from Utah who was riding a Vstrom. We compared notes and went our separate ways. For those of you contemplating an adventure of your own, put the Sawtooth on it! The clouds looked very threatening this morning but broke up somewhat. It was partly cloudy and cool all day, but again no rain.

Well I had the pleasure of meeting “Chopper”, his lovely wife Sue and Boots late this afternoon. Unfortunately I couldn’t stay long and fortunately “Chopper” had business coming in. As I was leaving a severe thunderstorm came through and I had to take refuge under a building awning before the rain poured down. I didn’t get wet and I could see the storm moving to the northeast. I fell in behind it and followed it until I got to Idaho Falls, ID and got a room. I had no sooner unpacked and covered the bike when the winds picked up, blasting the area with rain. My weather luck is sure to run out before the adventure is over, because I haven’t been soaked and miserable yet. I don’t know where I’m going tomorrow, but the weather may make that decision for me. 378.9 miles today; 6987 for the adventure. Pictures to follow.

Pru,

Have fun in Idaho Falls. Believe it or not, there used to be a major Naval installation there. The Nuclear Power Training Unit was headquartered in Idaho Falls, with the reactor plants out in the desert at what was then called the National Reactor Testing Station. I spent 2 1/2 years there in the '60s. Enjoy going through there occasionally just to see how the place has changed, and it has a lot.
