I've always used the HD filters for what ever model Harley I had. Also used to always get the chrome one. Have a 94 EGC now and got to looking at it and decided it already had enough chrome on it and started using the black filter.

I voted for the HD filter but I could have just as well voted for the Fram since I have been told by a HD dealer that HD filters are made by Fram for HD. And, that sort of worries me since from what I have read, Fram filters are rated by Consumers Reports as being the worst ones out there.

I'm running the K&P engineering reusable billet filter. I changed my oil for the 1st time after installing my 106 kit and this is what I found. On the three magnets on the filter I found about a pencil eraser mound of metal shavings. On the filter element itself not a lot of metal. The drain plug did not have much metal on it at all. The oil itself also looked fairly clean. This was after approx. 68 miles. I will be taking the filter off to clean it again at about 200 miles just to see how things are breaking in. I am thinking about running an HD filter for the time being for peace of mind with the amount of shavings coming off of the cylinder walls. I was however, impressed with the ability of the K&P to catch the metal shavings.

I run a Chrome Harley oil Filter 77A with Moble 1 Full Synthetic 20w/50
and Moble ! Full Synthetic Gear oil 75w/90

What my bike shop love's to put in her. :D

I use K&N filters buy then by the case because of the nut on the end, when I installed my oil cooler they was not enough room to use even the special harley wrench.:bigsmiley11:
