I drove a BMW k-1200LT. I switched because of the parts, maintenance costs mainly. The other reason was because it was to top heavy, seemed we wanted to fall over a lot!
Been riding since i was six, came from a motorcycle family. Even my mother had her own bike.Ive had them all yamaha, suzuki, honda. Then i grew up and got my first harley 1200 sportster, now i have a fatboy, God bless mom and dad.
First bike was a 1965 Rupp full dressed mini bike when I was12. It was stolen a couple years later and I waited until I was 35 and bought a 72 Triumph 650 Bonneville, followed by another one I got for fifty bucks that was seized up and then a 67 250 Trophy for 25 bucks and a free 500 Datona for parts. Fast forward to last fall when I got my 89 harley Softail springer that my buddy bought new. I still have the Triumph collection taking up space along with a 29 Ford that someday I'll get around to. Had the Ford since 1968.
Last I road was a VW trike and before that I had a Kawasaki Vulkcan 1500 , before that a Goldwing......nothing beats the Harley I got now , I just love it.
I've owned Hondas, Yamahas, and Kawi's. the HD is in another solar system! No bike I've ever own before was ever worth wrenching on. Disposibles! You can own and run and wrench on an HD for the rest of your life and never regret it!
I traded in my Triumph Daytona 675 to buy my first Harley, Sportster XL1200C. I have the 675 on the track at Donington Park twice and Mallory Park twice in 2009 and was suddenly bored and uncomfortable riding it on the rode. The Sporty seemed so big and heavy when I first got it. I had a brief spell with a 2005 VRSCA, and now I an on a 2010 Street Bob which is fabulous. only done 200 mies since Nov and can't wait for better weather.
I am very active with Tamar Valley Harley Davidson Club and Plymouth UK Chapter and love the camaraderie and the attention that only Harley get whenever several of us go for a ride or turn up at the local coffee shop. I even put up with my son telling me I look like a gay cowboy with my waistcoat with patches, leather trousers and cowboy boots.
Had a 2008 Suzuki Boulevard C50. Good bike to begin with, but got tired of reaching for another gear that wasn't there. Still have it but will be selling it this spring.
Did about 20 or so track day on a 04 GSXR 750......Did Kevin Swantz race school at Road Atlanta......Barber and Jennings GP. Was fun but got to expensive.
