Here's my Trike build

You're right about that but the jeweled deflector sweeps down and takes your eyes to the filter. All the more reason to make up the kits and sell them. I'm sure there would be a market for them. If nothing else it's great advertising for you showing you're ingenuity and attention to detail which is second to none.

I know your right. I'll keep it in mind. It's just that most dont have a tap and die set. Let alone, that was pipe thread on the brass elbow, where as I had to over thread it to NF. Because I didnt own the tap and die set for pipe threading. This is why I just left it as what I built to alleviate the oil breather problem.

I guess I thought if my tap and die set had pipe thread everybody's did. Would the kits get too pricey if you put in the right size drill bit and the tap? Then it would be complete and most people could do their own. I know some guys who can install kits but don't have an original thought in their head.

Ive another idea. Just include a brass elbow fitting that gets pressed in. That metal casting is soft compared to steel. Now the other thing is. riders would have to get that breather tubing set-up from Kuryakyn. This kit would only work if the rider has that installed already. Most I'm sure would prefer being able to do this set-up with their stock air cleaner set-up. So you see? this can cause a whole other can of worms to open up.

With winter being here. I've been busy working on the trike. Trying to finish everything before I finally paint it.

The following are a couple things I've been working on.
This weekend I've been building aluminum speaker enclosures for the Hog Tune rear speakers I had previously installed.

The boxes have been coated with black wrinkle paint. I made them fit snugly, requiring a Velcro pad adhered to the back of each speaker magnet. Since the enclosure's fit is tight. There was no need to attach these with any hardware. The Velcro allows me to remove them if I ever have to replace a speaker.

The next part of this build is to form an aluminum top shelf that will set in the recessed area shown in the picture above. There will be 3 sections for storage of smaller items. There will also be two SS handles that will allow me to lift the tray and set it up and on the passengers seat area while the lid is open, allowing me access underneath.

This is just the bottom of the tray. I'm presently building the dividers and a hinged lid that will help contain it's contents.

Today I managed to fabricate the sections for the cargo deck.
There will be 3 sections. Each will have it's own individual hinged lid.

I'm building it very sturdy to keep it from flexing when it's lifted by the SS handles from it's resting place.

The next day or so, I'll be finishing the covers and laying carpeting on the insides. Any part that's not carpeted I'll be spraying it with black wrinkle paint or maybe covering it with black vinyl.

I like the storage idea, that's great especially with little items that just love to vanish.

Yes I was having that problem of little things disappearing or having to dig in the bottom of the cargo area all the time. The space that Im making this organizer in is very limited and the organizer it's self had to be on the money or it wouldnt fit/work.

During my build. I'm always designing or building new cosmetic ideas that will help dress up my trike, along with preventative maintenance measures.

In this 1st picture. I had removed my floor boards. A lot of owners, especially owners of new motorcycles. Should maintain preventative measures that will ensure the prevention on areas that are prone to rusting.

The floor board below had a good share of rust on it's bottom side. I removed the rust and prepped the metal for painting. Regular paint doesnt hold up well against chipping. So I coated the bottom sides of my floor boards with Black Wrinkle Paint. I also used a heat gun to set the paint up faster, allowing me to coat it heavier in a shorter amount of time.

The next picture shows my engine area, take note of the oil filler cap. It can be seen just to the left and down from the red filter.

I had removed the circular metal HD dealership logo from the cap's surface. It was held in place with some contact cement.
This left just a black surface. In the next picture below. I had purchased some HD Conchos used for 90's styled seats.

Using a spring loaded center punch. I marked the center of the Concho and drilled a hole through it.

I then took a nickle plated skull that has a threaded receiver on it's back side and mounted the skull to the Concho.

On the back side I secured the screw that holds the skull in place with a silicone adhesive. It's a self leveling adhesive and when cured it filled the back side of the Concho nicely. I then applied a little more silicone and set it on the filler plug's cap.

I have two more seat Conchos and will be doing the same to them as well. I'll mount these on the front brake calipers. I know they already make inserts for those areas. But I like being different. So this is why I make my own.
